Growth hormone axis

Summary

CJC-1295 is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), modified so that it binds to the body's own albumin after injection and lasts far longer than the natural hormone, with a half-life of about eight days. Several listed suppliers also sell a product labelled 'CJC-1295 no DAC', which lacks that modification; it is a different molecule from the one in the trials below.

What it targets

A phase 1 study in healthy adults measured growth hormone and IGF-1 after administration and reported prolonged elevation of both. A second study asked whether continuous stimulation flattens the body's natural pulses of growth hormone, which are thought to matter for its effects: healthy men aged 20 to 40 were sampled every 20 minutes overnight before and a week after a single injection, and growth hormone secretion rose while the pulsatile pattern was preserved. Both studies are in healthy volunteers and measure hormone levels rather than any clinical outcome.
